The Association of NYSC National Honors Award Winners has on Thursday 11th December, 2025 conducted its Annual Conference and induction of the new NYSC National Honor Awardees into the association.
The statutory award is designed primarily to reward excellence amongst young persons who have been adjudged remarkably outstanding during the mandatory service year via Community Development Service (CDS) and other programmes of the NYSC scheme.
The event that took place at the Atiku Hall, Office of the Head of Service of the Federation also, covers the awarding of long service awards to 6 illustrious members of the association who have reached the position of Permanent Secretaries in the federal government services.
In his acceptance speech for a second term in office, the president of the association, thanked the members of the association for their continued services to humanity through hard work, resilience, and community partnership. He also promised to carry a long all the members of the association so that together they will continue to deliver good services to the nation.
He also promised to set up an awareness committee that will be responsible for going round the NYSC Camps nationwide to educate young corps members on the need to deliver selfless community services to their host communities for a better Nigeria.
In her goodwill message, the Head of Civil Service, Mrs Esther Walson-Jack represented by the Permanent Secretary Office of the Head of Service Dr urged members of the association to unite together and continue to promote honesty and dedication in their various places of public services and impact their various communities.
Speaking with our reporter shortly after the event Umar Babayo a recipient of the NYSC Presidential Award 2025, expressed his excitement for being officially inducted into the association. Babayo, who graduated from Bauchi State University and conducted his NYSC service at Daura in Katsina state since 2020/21 which he trained over 200 youth in skills acquisition.
He further expressed that the award came to him as a surprise as he had never expected any return for what he did as community service in his host community in Daura town.
Awards recipients in the category of exceptional dedication and service to the association included; Engr. Bamikole Omoseebi, – Quite a handful track record 2004 Award Set, Engr. Emmanuel an active member, Chairman 2023 End of the Year Event, Chairman, Awardee Estate Fundraising Committee, Dr Ibrahim Kaboji who served 2 consecutive ELECO Committee 2023 & 2025.
Honorary Award for exemplary role and support in association recipients are, Dr Ogbonnaya Anuma Nlia, Permanent Secretary Police Affairs Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, General Service Office, SGF, Dr Emeka Vitalis Obi, Permanent Secretary Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr Chris Isokpunwu O., Permanent Secretary Ministry of Steel Development. Award of Recognition was presented to the Commissioner of Youth, Kaduna State.
Also, present at the meeting is the Chief Whip of the association Eng. Emmanuel Nwokedi and other prominent members of the association.
